Sound Post Production encompasses many different fields that each work together towards creating the final soundtrack of the film. I provide the following services either separately or combined as part of a complete sound post production package. When you think you are ready to have me start working on the film, please look over my Turnover specs to make sure that you have all of the necessary elements.
Dialog Editorial
Dialog editing is process of editing the production sound into a smooth foundation on which the entire soundtrack rests upon. As the dialog editor, I will look through all the audio files for your film and weed out any unnecessary sounds that would distract the viewer from the story. Please fill out my Production Sound Questionnaire so that I can have a better understanding of the tools I will have available to me.
ADR Supervision
ADR is a powerful tool in the film maker’s arsenal. Along with replacing poorly recorded production audio, it can be used as a storytelling tool to re-inforce narrative themes, keep the plot moving, and answer some questions that were discovered during picture editorial.
Sound Effects Editorial
Sound Effects and backgrounds add an element of realism to the film that helps bring the two dimensional world to life. I pride myself in the detail and care that I put into selecting the sounds that will best fit in with the other sonic elements of the film.
Sound Design
Great sound design is felt as much as it is heard. It can be anything from a subtle element that you unconsciously feel or a hard hit that slaps you across the face!
Mixing
Where it all comes together. The dialog, music and sound effects all play together to make a cohesive unit to pull the viewer into the story and forget they are watching a film.
